The Principle of the Path

The Principle of the Path: How to get from where you are to where you want to be.

Author: Andy Stanley

Description: A relatively short and easy read about understanding your direction in life, what affects it, and how to leverage it. It is based on the principle:

Direction – not intention – determines your destination.

My thoughts: I really enjoy listening, reading, and learning from Andy Stanley. His communication style and content impact and connect with me. This book followed suit, for the most part. Towards the middle of the book – specifically when drawing his Biblical references, it felt a little drawn out. I felt the same content and principles could have been conveyed in 50 less pages. Overall, it is a good read – I was/am able to apply it directly to my life. I would recommend this to any 20-something to read and discuss.

  • Understanding the key principle of this book will help you to live with less regret.
  • Applies to all arenas of life: Marriage, Family, Job, Finance, Friends, Spirituality, Physical Health…
  • Determining your direction/destination does not center on you – God and other people are always a factor.
  • What gets our attention determines our direction, and ultimately, our destination.
